Short-Term Classes

Winter 2020 Short-Term Classes

Not ready for a full year of dance classes? A few times each year we offer short-term classes for students to just get a taste dance for 6 weeks. A one-time per new-student annual registration fee of $25 ($50 maximum/family) is also due for students who have not danced with us yet during the 20192020 year. Students who danced with us in the previous season will owe an annual registration fee of $15/student. The registration fee covers all sessions from September-August.

Classes must have a minimum enrollment of 5 students for the class to run so call your friends and come dance with us!

Mini Pre-Ballet Dancers ages 3-5 years will learn basic dance concepts such as patterns, shapes, sequence, rhythm, and musicality. Basic ballet steps (and terminology) will also be introduced to help students grow in balance, coordination, and motor skill development. Class meets for 6 weeks during our Winter Short-Term session:

Fridays, 11:30 am-12:00 pm, January 3th-February 7th

Saturdays, 9:00 am-9:30 pm, January 4th-February 8th 

Instructor: Abbie Montermini

Tuition: $55 for the 6 week session + rregistration fee for students who have not yet danced with us this season

 

Beginning Tap & Ballet Beginning ballet and musical theatre tap dance (min age of 5). For students who wish to begin learning dance for musical theatre, this 45 min class meets 1 time/week for 6 weeks. Dancers will gain a basic knowledge of ballet, tap and some jazz skills while being exposed to basic music and performance concepts. Tap & ballet shoes required.

Class meets for 6 weeks during our Winter Short-Term session: 
Wednesdays, 5:00-5:45 pm, January 8th-February 12th 

Instructor: Gabby Plaep

Tuition: $80 for the 6 week session + registration fee for students who have not yet danced with us this season

 

Beginning Ballet Beginning ballet technique for dancers age 12 and up. This beginning ballet class introduces students to the structure of ballet in addition to beginning ballet technique, musicality, and performance concepts. This .75-hour class meets 1 time/week and dancers will quickly grow their ballet vocabulary as well as gain an introduction to ballet history and terminology. Class meets year-round but may be taken as part of our Winter Short-Term Session:

Wednesdays, 5:45-6:30 pm, January 8th-February 12th 

Instructor: Gabby Plaep
Tuition: $80 for the 6 week session + registration fee for students who have not yet danced with us this season

 

Adults!!!

Adult Beginning Ballet  Beginning-level ballet barre and centre work for adult dancers (min ages 13). We will focus our time on building ballet vocabulary, learning proper alignment and technique, with some time spent on strengthen exercises. $10/class, punch cards accepted.

Class meets for 6 weeks during our Winter Short-Term session: 

Mondays, 7:15-8:15 pm, January 6th-February 10th 

Instructor: Rebecca Culp

 

Adult Beginning Tap Broadway-style tap class focusing on beginning tap skills for ages 16 & up. A great fit for anyone looking to learn a new skill or to get a fun cardio workout. $10/class (punch cards accepted). Class meets year-round but may be taken as part of our Winter Short-Term Session:
Thursdays, 7:30-8:30 pm Instructor: Mari Anderson

 

Adult Intermediate Musical Theatre Tap Broadway-style tap class focusing on learning a specific tap routine from a Broadway show for ages 16 & up. A great fit for anyone looking to brush up (pun intended) their tap skills for auditions or to get a fun cardio workout. $10/class (punch cards accepted). Class meets year-round but may be taken as part of our Winter Short-Term Session:

Barre (Dance Fitness)

Dance Fitness incorporating ballet, conditioning and cardio. $10/class (punch cards accepted). Class meets year-round but may be taken as part of our Winter Short-Term Session:

Short-Term Class Dress Code

There's no specific dress code for the short term classes, at minimum students should wear clothing that is easily moved in. If you would like to purchase dance wear (leotard, tights, and shoes) please refer to the information on our Dress Code page.

 

 

 

Spring 2020 Short-Term Classes

 

Parent/Child Performance Class

Parent & Child Performance Class is open to all students who have danced with us in the 2018-19 dance season. Families will learn a dance to be performed at our Year-End Performance. Parents and children will learn choreography during 3 classes, each 45 min long, held on Fridays (April 26th, May 10th, May 17th, & May 24th).
Tuition: $30/family, no costume fee for this class, however a $10 Performance Fee is required for students (age 18 & under) not dancing with another class in the Performance.
 

Additional rehearsal if needed: Thursday, May 30th 6:30-7:00pm*
Dress rehearsal at Mounds View High School Friday, May 31st 6-7pm*
2 Performances at Mounds View High School Saturday, June 1st 3pm & 6pm 
* Rehearsal dates and times are tentative at this time

Beginning Broadway & Ballet Beginning ballet and musical theatre tap dance (min age of 5). For students who wish to begin learning dance for musical theatre, this 45 min class meets 1 time/week for 6 weeks. Dancers will gain a basic knowledge of ballet, tap and some jazz skills while being exposed to basic music and performance concepts. Tap shoes are optional but encouraged!

Class meets for just 6 weeks during our Spring Short-Term session.

Thursdays, 4:155:00 pm. $80 for the 6 week session + registration fee for students who have not yet danced with us this season.

Class meets for just 6 weeks during our Winter Short-Term session. Mini Pre-Ballet & Creative Movement Dancers ages 3-5 years will learn basic dance concepts such as patterns, shapes, sequence, rhythm, and musicality. Basic ballet and jazz steps (and terminology) will also be introduced to help students grow in balance, coordination, and motor skill development. 30 minutes/week. Saturdays, 9:159:45 am. January 28thMarch 4th. $50 for the 6 week session + registration fee for students who have not yet danced with us this season.
 

Mini Pre-Ballet Beginning ballet for ages 3-4 or students with previous dance experience, this 30 minute class serves as a transition from creative movement to the structure of a ballet class. Students will gain confidence in ballet terminology and musicality. Class meets for just 6 weeks during our Winter Short-Term session. Fridays, 10:45 am–11:15 am, class begins February 3rd*. $50 for the 6 week session + registration fee for students who have not yet danced with us this season.

 

Beginning Ballet Specially geared towards homeschool students, this beginning ballet class introduces students to the structure of ballet in addition to beginning ballet technique, musicality, and performance concepts. This 45-minute class meets 1 time/week and dancers will quickly grow their ballet vocabulary. Class Time: Fridays, 11:15 am–12:00 pm, January 27thMarch 3rd. $75 for the 6 week session + registration fee for students who have not yet danced with us this season.

 

Adult Musical Theatre Dance Beginning and Advanced Beginning Musical Theatre style jazz and tap dance technique. We will focus on Broadway-style tap and incorprate eliments of jazz to make you feel comfortable on the stage or just get a good work out. Mondays, 8:00–9:00 pm, January 23rdFebruary 27th. $60/6 week session. Drop-In Cards available.

 

Open Ballet (ages 13Adult) This class follows Level 3 ballet in the studio progression for students who do not wish to participate in the Performance Track Program and also includes adult students. This 1-hr class builds on a basic ballet vocabulary and skill set learned in Level 3 Ballet and meets 1 day/week. College students are welcome! This 1 hour class meets 1 time/week. 
2016-2017 Class Time: Tuesdays, 8:00 pm9:00 pm. $60/6 week session or $11/class.
